Long time

Oh God.
The last time I wrote something was such a long time ago.
Finished promos, graduated to JC 2, went for an OCIP in Batam, a RP in Kahang and a holiday in France and Hong Kong. Cleared PW and Chinese.
Thats it. My life in a nutshell. Pretty boring, but hey, I'm a boring person.
New J1s seem interesting to say the least.
And Can't get "kiss a girl' our of my head.
Bleh.
My life is boring.

One chance was all I was given
One chance was all it took
One chance to make it all right
One chance to change the future
Why the hell did I not believe in Occam's Razor?

And gave her mother forty wacks
When she saw what she had done
She gave her father forty-one

OK, so its been a long time since I last posted something. After being depressed, disappointed, backstabbed etc, everything that makes JC life unique, lets have something less depressing.
The Washington Post ran a contest in their paper. The objective was to construct a 2 line poem, the first line was to be romantic, the second, the least romantic,
Some of my favourites:

My darling, my lover, my beautiful wife,
Marrying you screwed up my life.

I see your face when I am dreaming.
That's why I always wake up screaming.

Kind, intelligent, loving and hot;
This describes everything you are not.

I thought that I could love no other --
that is until I met your brother.

Roses are red, violets are blue, sugar is sweet, and so are you.
But the roses are wilting, the violets are dead, the sugar bowl's empty and so is your head

I want to feel your sweet embrace;
But don't take that paper bag off your face.

I love your smile, your face, and your eyes --
F***, I'm good at telling lies!

My love, you take my breath away.
What have you stepped in to smell this way?

My feelings for you no words can tell,
Except for maybe 'Go to hell.'

Can anyone else think up of more rhymes?
You are as beautiful as the morning sun
But when I look at our face, I feel like shooting you with a nice big blowgun

If you don't breathe,
There is no air.
If you don't walk,
There is no earth.
If you don't speak,
there is no world.

Wow...the mid-year exams are finally over.
This morning, when I woke up, I experienced a feeling I have not experienced in a long time. The feeling of finally being free, of being able to just lie down on my bed and do nothing. I just lay there and stared at my ceiling wondering what I should do because I finally have nothing to do. No commitments, no nothing.
Ah well, better not get used to this feeling cuz soon, it will be time to try to start studying again....

Leave of absence for school staff, students returning from H1N1 affected nations

SINGAPORE: Singapore's Ministry of Education (MOE) has announced several precautionary measures to deal with the H1N1 flu when schools reopen on June 29.

The MOE said it will issue a seven-day leave of absence to all school staff and students returning from affected countries on or after June 22. The measure will also apply to kindergartens and childcare centres.

The ministry said schools will remind all their staff and students to exercise social responsibility to declare their travel history if they have been to the affected countries.

It added that they are to stay at home for seven days before returning to school if they have visited the affected countries.

Speaking at a news conference, Education Minister Ng Eng Hen said the ministry believes about one to two per cent of students and staff will return from the affected countries.

Dr Ng added that if clusters are found in schools, then some classes, or if necessary, the whole school will be closed for a period of time.

Singaporeans will have to be prepared for these disruptions as and when clusters are found.

Turning to specific measures in schools, the ministry said that when school reopens, there will be temperature taking twice daily until further notice.

There will also be screening of travel history. Schools will send travel declaration forms to all staff, parents of students, vendors and service providers before school reopens to update their travel history.

When schools reopen on Monday, teachers will check the travel declaration forms to ensure all students in the classroom have not travelled to affected countries.

First 2 weeks

Ok so maybe this post is a little overdue. This first part would be about the Pre-University Seminar. The next would be about the Leadership training camp.

From June 1st to June 5th, I was away at the Pre-U Seminar. Honestly, I though that that seminar would be all about the gathering of a few geeky people and discuss issues that on the surface, do not really concern us. However, was I wrong. This seminar was more of a gathering place to socialize than to address the issue at hand. Sure, the talks and presentations were informative, however, we were definitely looking forward more to the trips and outings to Sentosa and maybe the CBD than to how we can “Re-imagine Singapore: Ethos and Economy”.
I mean, honestly, how many people can say that a camp brings them to Sentosa? And, it was not as if we went to Sentosa to “have fun” XD
It was a multi-sensory challenge that required us to utilize our different abilities and talents in a way most suitable to accomplish a task at hand.(alright, it was jst an excuse to have fun) Building a raft in 4 minutes, playing Captains Ball with 2 Yoga Ball and Beach Soccer on 3 legs and a volley ball. It was tiring, exhausting and well, fun.
Hm…..the trip to the CBD…….ah well.
But wait, if there was one thing I liked as much as the trip to Sentosa (its not the 6 meals a day), it has to be QUILT SEWING. WOOHOO oh hell ya. I enjoyed it…………ok it was not the most exciting thing but what the hell, after a while you get used to getting your fingers pricked. Anyhow, I guess one could think of it as a way of…getting in touch with ones feminine side.
The last day though, the event ended off with a, lets just say……….a bang?! Okay so maybe it was not the most exciting end, but the casual formality of the event just added that nice finishing touch to a perfect week. New friendships were formed and that to me, was a priceless gift.(fine I will be your friend too if you can quote me a high enough price lol)

So that’s for the Pre-U Sem. Now onto the Leadership training camp.

After the camp ended on Friday, the immediate Monday, I attended the Leadership training camp. Monday was just all about lectures on communication and on how to be a good leader. Gawd, I thought that day would never end. Ok, so maybe there were its high times and its low times, maybe there were games that showed the importance of leadership but, that day time just passed so sloooooooooow.
Now Tuesday was so much better.  We had an Amazing race around Singapore. The first station we had to go was to the Carvaugh Bridge near the Asian Civilizations Museum where we then had to break into 2 teams, one to estimate the number of spikes on the Esplanade and the other to estimate the length of one leg of the Fountain of Wealth at Suntec. Since we had a bit of time to kill, a few of us went to the war memorial. The war memorial was a solemn place, a place of reflection only disturbed by the inconsideration of graffiti artists.
Next, we headed to Mount Faber. Okay now this was where what could have been a perfect day went horribly wrong. We misinterpreted the clue and ended up on the wrong sied of Mount Faber. Up we went on the side of Habourfront, down we came on the side of Telok Blangah RISE. And to think that we thought the challenge was that. After that, we had to climb up a nice long set of stairs……before realizing that we had to count the number of bars of railing along the way up….Kudos to those who did the climbing, I take my hat off to you to still have the energy after climbing Mount Faber.
Needless to say, we came in late for lunch and had to take a penalty of 600 points.  After that…..lol I cannot remember what happened. Except for the fact that we had to run from Katib MRT to BottleTree for our 4th task and that we came in one and a half hour after time at about 7.30. And that’s the end of day 2.
The next day, we began the day by doing a rescue mission. At first, after we got to the rescue site, we thought that that was the end of the matter. How wrong we were. After we got to the rescue site, we had to transport 2 of our team mates back on stretchers and we were not allowed to use the road we came from. We had to trek through Bukit Tima Nature reserve to get back to camp…..Yippeee, it took us about 2 hours and 25 minutes. Seeing the road was like walking into heaven.
After the jungle rescue, we next went to the zipline station. If the mear thought of soon jumping off a 4 story building was bad, than walking up that imposing structure felt like the condemned walking
into the gallows. Either that or it was just my nerves acting up. Anyhow, once I had gotten to the top of the structure, I was strapped in, locked in and told to just hold on to 2 pieces of steel wire that looked like it would give way at any time. Anyhow, 3…2…1…it was a leap of faith. I kicked off and God it felt good. The wind in your hair, the harness crushing your family jewels, it was an interesting experience. The rest of the day then felt pretty normal. I mean, pole jump was fine, and playing electric fence was a throw back to my childhood.
The perfect end to that day however was the absailing. At this point, I would like to thank all those who gave up their chance to absail so that I could. Finally, after 5 years, I managed to absail.
After absailing, it was dinner, wash-up, letter writing etc…

The past 2 weeks have been exciting and interesting. New friendships, new experiences. Hopefully, the next 2 weeks would be just as exciting.
